SAMANTHA FIELDS SYCKS

 
Sami has more than 13 years of experience in a broad range of litigation and transactional work. Sami came to VanAntwerp Attorneys after serving as in-house counsel to an excavating business for several years wherein she advised on and prepared indemnity, subcontract, property rental and right-of-way agreements, while also prosecuting, defending, and negotiating settlement of suits for breach of contract and property damage claims. Prior to her role as in-house counsel, Sami was in private practice for a number of years in Ironton, Ohio. Her practice included trial work and legal counsel to clients in the areas of construction, employment, divorce and custody disputes, criminal defense, juvenile law, real estate transactions and evictions, wills and probate, and appellate advocacy. She is licensed to practice in Kentucky, Ohio and West Virginia, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Ohio and the U.S, District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Sami also has strong ties to the local legal community. She served as an officer of the Lawrence County, Ohio Bar Association for seven years, including one year as its President, and continues to serve as a member of the Lawrence County Law Library Legal Resources Board, the Unauthorized Practice of Law Committee, and as chairperson of the Social and Entertainment Committee.
